Why Asbury Hills?

Summer camp at Asbury Hills is all about fun, faith, and fellowship. Our campers:

A Day in the Life of a Camper

  • 8:00am – Breakfast

  • 9:00am – Morning Worship, Small Group Discussions, and Activities

  • 12:00pm – Lunch

  • 1:00pm – Activity Time

  • 5:45pm – Dinner

  • 6:30pm – Activities and Games with the Entire Camp

  • 8:00pm – Evening Worship

  • 9:00pm – Cabin Devotions

Summer Camp Activities

At Asbury Hills, we have more activities than will fit in a week! Some activities are offered for all ages and others are age specific.

All Ages

Archery/Slingshot:

  • Learn safety and the skill of archery and slingshot
  • Counselor led
  • 1-1.5 hours


Canoeing:

  • Basic canoe instruction and safety; lifeguard on duty
  • 2-3 campers per canoe, PFDs required
  • 1-2 hours


Creek Hiking:

  • Counselor led hike through Matthews Creek
  • Learn safety and skills for creek hiking; swimming and creek exploring included
  • 1-2 hours


Crafts:

  • Age specific craft directly relating to the summer’s theme that campers get to take home
  • Led by Arts & Crafts Coordinator
  • .5-1 hour


Tree Climbing:

  • 2 climbable trees climbed with climbing ropes and harnesses
  • Entire group works together to belay; facilitated by ropes certified summer staff member
  • 1-1.5 hours


Swimming Pool:

  • Swim test required to use diving board and deep end; lifeguard on duty at all times
  • Open swim time with the entire activity group
  • 1-2 hours


Rock Wall:

  • 32 foot climbing tower with 6 different climb routes
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member, group helps belay climber
  • 1-1.5 hours


Group Games:

  • Games designed for the entire activity group; high energy activities
  • Involves all members and counselors
  • .5-1.5 hours


Cascades Hike:

  • Less than a mile hike to a waterfall and swimming area of Matthews Creek
  • Lifeguard on duty; swim test required to jump into the cascades
  • 2-3 hours


Low Ropes Course:

  • Physical elements requiring the activity group to work together
  • Counselor facilitates this activity
  • 1-2 hours


Team Building:

  • Challenges requiring the entire group to work together to complete
  • Led by counselors
  • 1-2 hours


Home-in-the-Woods:

  • Overnight camping trip at a campsite on Asbury Hills’ property
  • Counselors lead the hike to the site; meals are cooked over a fire
  • Campers sleep under tarps on wood platforms; separated by gender


Water Zip Line:

  • 2 zip lines going across the lake
  • counselor lead, lifeguard on duty
  • campers wear a PFD


Wet Willie Water slide:

  • Two water slides situated on the Lake at Asbury hills
  • Lifeguard on duty; PFDs are required to be worn by all participants
  • 1.5-2 hours

Elementary

Funky Site Low Ropes Course:

  • Low Ropes course with 5 different obstacles; harnesses and helments required
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member
  • 2-3 hours

Junior High

Zipline Canopy Tour:

  • 6 connected ziplines
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member; harnesses and helmets required
  • 2-3 hours


Partial Alpine Tower Experience:

  • 55 foot climbing apparatus with 27 different routes
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member; harnesses and helmets required
  • Climbing routes limited for Junior High
  • 2-3 hours


Moonshine Falls Hike:

  • 3 mile hike to a waterfall
  • Counselor led; trail starts at Asbury Hills
  • 2-3 hours


Giant Swing:

  • 42 foot tall giant swing
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member; harnesses and helmets required
  • 1.5-2 hours


Leap of Faith:

  • Climb atop a 20 foot tall telephone pole and leap for a bell
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member; harnesses and helmet required
  • 1-1.5 hours

Senior High

Raven Cliff Hike:

  • 3 mile hike to Raven Cliff Falls in Caesar’s Head State Park, start hike at Asbury Hills
  • Counselor led hike
  • 3-4 hours


Full Alpine Tower Experience:

  • 55 foot climbing apparatus with 27 different routes
  • Facilitated by a ropes certified summer staff member; harnesses and helmets required
  • 2-3 hours
